Advantages of Vehicle Locating/Tracking:
- Make cuts in overall fuel costs through several improvements
With our tracking systems find the vehicle closest to a call and
dispatch
the driver quickly. View routes taken and advise drivers on how to
shorten them. Document speeding and excess idling to change driving
behavior. Determine if any vehicles are being used after hours without
authorization. Keep vehicle maintenance up to date to assure the best
possible fuel mileage rate.
- Access automated records of customer service levels delivered
covered by GPS Tracking
- Increase your customer service levels without adding vehicles or
drivers
- Document hard numbers to measure productivity of your mobile
workforce from an automated source
- Improve mobile workforce productivity by providing mobile access
to office based applications like customer records and order entry
- Keep auditable, cost-effective driver logs on an automated basis
- Meet long-haul trucking needs for computer-based input to state
fuel tax calculations
- Communicate in writing, at any time, between dispatchers and
drivers out in the field - *OPTIONAL - NOT STANDARD and also not available
on some AVL technologies.

Just how does Vehicle Locating/Tracking
work?
–
AVL (Automatic Vehicle Locating or Vehicle
Tracking) utilizes the triangulation of 3 or more
Global Positioning Satellites
(GPS) to send Latitude/Longitude information back to a central location.
The GPS system consists of satellites whose paths are monitored by ground
stations.
Each satellite generates radio signals that allow a receiver to
estimate the satellite
location and distance between the satellite and the
receiver.
The receiver uses the measurements to calculate where on or above the
Earth the user is located. There are many different types of Vehicle
Locating systems
to choose from including Passive, Cellular and Satellite
Tracking Systems.
